We are delighted to announce that we have purchased two defibrillators for community use.
One is housed by the Top Station and one is down on the beach.
We want as many people as possible to be aware of them. They have been registered with the Ambulance Service so if anyone calls 999 and is need of one they will be directed to the nearest device.
We have always been aware that Oddicombe Beach can be hard to reach for the Emergency Services and so we felt that to add this to the beach, and the services available there, would be a good thing to do.
Both units are outside so can be used whether we are open or closed. They are locked in a case. Cliff Railway and beach staff know the combination to unlock them as do the Ambulance Service, which means that anyone who calls will not only be given the location but also the code to access the machines.
These are designed to be fool-proof and can be used by anyone in an emergency as the unit provides full instructions as you go along. However, some basic training in the maintenance and use of the machines has been given to some of the team.
Please help spread the word about the provision of these two defibrillators.
We hope they are never needed. But, if they are, let’s make sure that as many people as possible know that they are available.
Thanks
