Railways On The Air Courtesy Of Riviera Amateur Radio Club

Railways On The Air (ROTA) weekend usually takes place every year on the weekend closest to the 27th September. The date celebrates the anniversary of the first steam powered passenger railway which made its first journey on 27th September 1825.

This year the Riviera Amateur Radio Club will be taking part in the event with the permission of the Babbacombe Cliff Railway.

The event involves contacting and being contacted by Radio Amateurs operating other stations at their own nominated railways as well as amateurs operating from their own stations at home or mobile all over the UK and Europe and possibly other parts of the world.

Unfortunately due to poor signal the transmissions will not be taking place at the Babbacombe Cliff Railway itself, but if you are a radio buff and hear our call sign GB4BCR plus mentions of the Babbacombe Cliff Railway on today, you will know what it is all about.
