Rescue Exercise At Babbacombe Cliff Railway

A huge thank you to everyone involved in last night’s exercise with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, including the team from Coombeshead Academy.
On a dark and extremely blowy November evening we had 14 “casualties” stuck in a Cliff Railway carriage.
3 appliances from Torquay with crews totalling around 20 Firefighters came to their rescue with generator-powered floodlights from Totnes. With help from the Cliff Railway team all were safely rescued.
It was quite an evening for all concerned and we are delighted to have teamed up with both the Fire and Rescue Service and the staff and students from Coombeshead Academy to conduct this incredibly valuable and educational exercise.
We’ll have more pictures for you soon but, for now, here’s a little taster of what happened at Babbacombe Cliff Railway last night
